THE DISABILITY STIGMA
Widespread stigma and a severe shortage of state-sponsored community-based services and support often result in families abandoning people with psychosocial or intellectual disabilities.

Children from severe and profound intellectual disability categories are abandoned by their families.

Women are vulnerable to abuse and have little say in what happens to them.
U&I CARE PROGRAM
U&I care invests in the special needs of at-risk men, women and children who have less access to a better living in our community and transform their lives by giving them the dignity and care they need.

U&I has employed educators, caregivers, cleaners, nurses, and physiotherapists for the differently-abled and at-risk individuals to ensure that the residents in the four government-run homes have access to proper hygiene and nutrition, educational and vocational training in partnership with the government.

Brush and bath training, hand washing, self-grooming and sanitary napkin making are some of the activities undertaken at the homes.
  • SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL
Activities aim to improve social behaviour and interactions, reduce anxiety and improve mental health. Competitive games like running the race and musical chair, relaxation exercises like yoga and meditation, counselling and therapy help our residents improve their over mental well-being.
