Our Co-Founder Satish, who used to work in HR in Bangalore, noticed a big issue with job applicants: many struggled with English communication skills, making it tough for them to get hired. Those from good colleges did well, but others with limited education faced challenges. This made Satish realize how crucial quality education is to tackle poverty. Seeing underserved kids near the office, Satish and Co-Founder Ajit decided to use their office for evening classes in 2011, creating U&I. Starting with 15 students in one city, U&I has helped 11,000 at-risk students nationwide in 12 years. With 3000 volunteers, U&I believes in making a positive impact through programs like U&I Teach, CARE, Ignite, and Empower, following values like #BeTheChange, #InThisTogether, and #BigAudaciousImpact.

U&I's Mission:
To provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring, mentorship, and exposure to underserved children, ensuring they gain essential life skills, confidence, and opportunities for a brighter future. By imbibing a sense of community, U&I aims to create sustainable, positive change and reduce educational inequalities, due to poverty, in society.

U&I Teach is an after-school program dedicated to helping kids aged 7-21 from less privileged backgrounds. The goal is to give them the support and guidance they need to succeed, especially when facing challenges linked to generational poverty. Since the start in 2011, U&I has made a positive impact on over 11,000 students with the assistance of more than 15,000 volunteers across 291 Learning Centres throughout India. Currently, U&I Teach is reaching 2200+ children, thanks to a community of 3000+ volunteers spread across 117 learning centres in 45 cities across India.

U&I Care supports four State-run Homes in Bangalore, assisting people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, abandoned children, and victims of trafficking and abuse. These facilities deal with challenges like understaffing and limited educational and recreational activities. U&I Care works to enhance residents' lives by providing personalized care, improving living conditions, and offering essential healthcare and rehabilitation. Our goal is to transform their lives, providing access to proper hygiene, healthcare, education, and vocational training.
